I received my B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees all from UW-Madison. In addition to the expected chemistry courses, I also teach a course on the history of science. I have recently developed a strong interest in food science and co-developed a flex degree competency set on chemistry with a strong food science emphasis.
My family and I have lived just north of Rice Lake on a 20 acre farmstead with too many outbuildings. I have two daughters and two sons who have gotten to be old enough to move out and begin their independent lives. Our empty nest always seems to be temporary – we often have exchange students from other countries living with us and always some combination of sheep, chickens, geese, cats and a large garden to tend. We like to cook and eat foods from a variety of different cultures. We also listen to many kinds of international music in addition to American blues, rock, jazz, and old-timey country (just about anything but pop music).
