It was recently announced that Douglas Edwardsen is the new Director of Continuing Education at the University of Wisconsin-Barron County. He recently relocated from Iowa to Wisconsin and assumed his new position on August 5.
Edwardsen fills the position that was previously occupied by Samantha Heathman who left the university to take a job in the private sector.
As Director of Continuing Education, Edwardsen will network closely with faculty, staff, students, members of the community, other UW institutions, and local and state-wide organizations. He will then develop credit and non-credit programming that meets the professional development, personal enrichment, cultural enhancement, and lifelong learning needs of local residents of all ages.
Edwardsen graduated from UW-Stevens Point with majors in Communication and English. In 2004 he earned his M.B.A. from the University of Iowa. His thirty plus year successful career includes extensive and diverse experiences in leading and managing marketing and sales teams and education programs at large national and international companies.
He has significant experience working with the development and support of community non-profit organizations. He has also developed and led training sessions for numerous business seminars and taught business courses at a community college in Iowa.
Commenting on his new position, Edwardsen stated, “I’m excited to be the new Continuing Education Director at UW-Barron County. I am very much looking forward to serving the campus and surrounding communities.” He went on to note that the new fall 2014 CE Catalog will soon be in area mailboxes and contains details of short courses, credit class opportunities, and upcoming campus events that will be offered throughout the fall semester.
