The final Thursdays @ the U event scheduled for May 8 will feature the announcement of the LIPPIE (Learning Innovation Prize) Award winners. This presentation will be held from 12:30 – 1:20 p.m. in the Blue Hills Lecture Hall at UW-Barron County in Rice Lake. All series presentations are open to the public free of charge.
The purpose of the LIPPIE Award is to encourage and reward innovative student learning through highly engaging projects that go beyond the typical classroom assignment. Each LIPPIE Award winner will receive a financial stipend. Student award winners will give a short five to seven minute presentation to explain their project. The student projects involve many varieties of learning innovation from special collaborations between students and faculty, group projects, independent research projects, service-learning or civic engagement, and inter-disciplinary projects.
The Thursdays @ the U Lecture Series is sponsored by the UW-Barron County Foundation. For more information, contact the campus at 715-234-8176.
