Barb Ritzinger of Rice Lake was recently named as the new Director of Development/Foundation Executive Director at the University of Wisconsin-Barron County in Rice Lake. Her primary responsibilities are in the areas of Foundation management, donor relations, public visibility, professional outreach, annual campaign activities and other fundraising initiatives.
On January 13, Ritzinger took over the Foundation Executive Director responsibilities from long-time director Deborah Neuheisel.
In commenting on Ritzinger’s appointment, Dr. Dean Yohnk, UW-BC Dean, stated, “We are very fortunate to have someone with Barb’s background in development and leadership in this important new role as UW-Barron County’s Director of Development and Foundation Executive Director. Barb brings a great range of skills and talents to this important position, which we believe will greatly enhance development, outreach, and fundraising activities at UW-Barron County as we strive to continue to grow and thrive as this region’s UW campus.”
In addition to her UW-BC Foundation duties, Ritzinger retains her position as Executive Officer of Heart of the North Builders Association. She also has extensive experience in developing fundraising programs and marketing materials for an array of regional non-profit organizations including the Pink Ribbon Advocacy, the “Curl for a Cure” breast cancer events, and the Rice Lake International Friendship Association.
The mission of the UW-BC Foundation is to enhance student and community educational opportunities through the direct support of scholarships and campus initiatives at the local campus. Some of the major initiatives of the Foundation include the UW-BC student scholarship program, the annual E.A.T.S. and raffle fundraisers, equipment purchases for the campus, and sponsorship of faculty professional development opportunities along with cultural and educational events.
As Foundation Executive Director, Ritzinger will be working closely with UW-BC Foundation officers president Mark Conrad of Chetek, vice-president Barb Swant (Vice President) of Rice Lake, treasurer Josh Johnson of Cumberland, and secretary Sue Raether of Rice Lake.
