A variety of enrichment courses will begin in March at UW-Barron County in Rice Lake.
Survival Japanese is an eight session class that will run on Tuesday evenings, March 4 – April 29 (skipping March 18) from 6:00 – 7:00 pm in room 237 Ritzinger Hall. This course will introduce participants to Japanese culture through survival Japanese and useful phrases, basic sentence structure, and the Japanese syllabary, numbers, and other basic kanji. Course instructor is Lee Friederich, who has lived in and around Tokyo for approximately eight of the past twenty years. Course registration fee is $39.
For the area’s stringed instrumentalists there will be classes for beginning, guiter, ukulele, mandolin, and bass. These are eight session classes that will run Wednesday evenings, March 5 – April 23 in the Fine Arts Building. Beginning guitar will run from 6:30 – 7:00 pm, beginning ukulele from 7:00 – 7:30 pm, beginning mandolin from 7:30 – 8:00 pm, and beginning bass from 8:00 – 8:30 pm. Each course has a fee of $129 and course instructor is seasoned musician Roger Harrison.
