If you’re in the mood for laughter and great music, you won’t want to miss UW-Barron County Theatre’s production of “Polyester The Musical,” by Phil Olson and Wayland Pickard. The play runs April 6, 7 and 8, 7:30 p.m., in the Fine Arts Theatre, 1800 College Dr., Rice Lake.
“Polyester The Musical” is a farcical 1970s time-warp story about the SYNCHRONISTICS, an over-the-hill, ABBA wannabe group that reunites after 20 years to perform at a public TV telethon fundraiser. The band members put their personal differences aside and try to save the station from going under.
The play features 16 original songs, including “The Funk Train” and “Bump Your Booty Rump.”
The cast consists of Lance (Gilbert Walthers, Cadot), Carl (Cole Stephens, Cornell), Mindy (Leslie Peterson, Balsam Lake), Barry (John Lloyd, Shell Lake) and Peggy (Skye Fairbanks, Exeland).
Tickets are $10 and can be reserved by calling the UW-Barron County Box office at 715-234-8176, ext. 5457, or by sending an email to Terry Wiesner at firstname.lastname@example.org.
