Have you heard about the benefits of practicing YOGA? Yoga is not about getting into the shape of a pretzel. A Yoga practice is about moving your body with your breath to unite mind, body and spirit. And it is called a practice because it is a journey, not a destination. In this yoga class, you will learn yoga stretches and postures to increase flexibility, strength, endurance, poise, and balance. Emphasis will be placed on teaching deep, relaxing, calming yogic breathing to increase respiration, and build focus and concentration. Emphasis will be place on moving all the muscles, juicing all the joints, moving the spine in all five directions, and balancing the body front and back, side to side. Particular attention will be paid to alignment in the poses, meeting you where you are. Previous yoga practice not required. This class will be a moderately paced class where modifications will be offered for every pose and students are encouraged to go at their own pace. For those wishing to deepen their practice, more challenging options will be offered. Whether you have always wanted to try yoga or are a seasoned yogi or yogini, please come prepared ready to move your body, lengthen your muscles, open your joints, and deepen your breath. Wear lose fitting comfortable clothing. A YOGA mat is required, a towel or blanket are optional. Bring a long sleeve shirt for warmth during integration, and a water bottle. Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher Patty McGown will be your instructor.
