Sailing 101

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to silently skim across the lake on a well-equipped sailboat and understand the basics of sailing? Here is your opportunity! This two session class includes both classroom instruction and an on-the-water training session to introduce you to sailing fundamentals and the real experience of sailing.

The classroom session will focus on sailing terminology, boat types and their costs plus sailing theory. The second class will be an on-the-water sailing experience onboard a 26 foot McGregor motor sailboat. The on-the-water class will be divided into groups of 5 people to experience and learn sailing techniques firsthand.

Your instructor, Ted Simpson, has been sailing and teaching sailing for 30 years. He owns, operates and races sailboats including a 30-foot boat in the Apostle Islands. In addition to sailing and racing in Wisconsin, Ted and his wife Mary have sailed their MacGregor along the Florida and Texas coasts.
