Community Resources

Educational Opportunity Center

The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The mission of the program is to assist adults over the age of 19 who meet eligibility criteria to select, apply and be admitted to an appropriate post-secondary program and assist them in applying for financial aid.

Jim Dzimiela

EOC Counselor Jim Dzimiela is highly trained in assisting people with career development and decision-making. He has experienced some of the same fears and issues in his own educational journey and will help you every step of the way. Jim will use various assessment instruments and interviews to help you focus on a program that is suited to your interests, abilities, aptitudes, and values.

Those who meet income guidelines and whose parents do not have four-year college degrees are eligible to participate in the EOC program.

With offices at UW-Eau Claire and UW-Barron County in Rice Lake, the program serves at least 1,100 adults a year who reside in a ten county area (Barron, Clark, Chippewa, Dunn, Eau Claire, Jackson, Rusk, Sawyer, Trempealeau, and Washburn).
