I came to UW-BC in fall 2008 after gaining eight years of teaching experience in multiple disciplines (anthropology, sociology, and business) at various institutions in India, Mexico, the United States, and Puerto Rico. At UW-BC, I teach the disciplines of anthropology as well as sociology that includes a wide array of courses on cultures of the world, marriage and family, race and ethnicity, and soon, economic anthropology. Broadly, my research interests are centered in the area of economic anthropology. In recent years I have conducted research and published on informal finance and retail businesses in Mexico. A list of my publications is available at Academia.edu. Besides teaching and conducting research, I am actively engaged in curriculum development, institutional oversight of research involving human subjects, and inclusive excellence. In summer 2011, I became the first and only faculty member in the University of Wisconsin Colleges to be certuified to facilitate multicultural awareness workshops for UW Colleges & Extension.
