Textbook Rental

UW-BC is one of the few UW campuses to have a textbook rental system.
This means that a textbook rental fee is collected as part of your tuition.
The textbook rental system saves students hundreds of dollars each semester
as books do not have to be purchased. But there are costs if the
rental texts are not returned promptly after the last final.
Rental textbooks for face to face, on-campus courses are available for semester-long
check-out in the
library during regular hours.
Some textbooks are available
for purchase. Textbooks still must be purchased for all distance
education courses including Compressed Video, WislineWeb,
Point-to-point and Online courses.
Students do have to purchase certain course materials (such as lab manuals,
workbooks, required readings, etc.). These items can be purchased at
the Business Office in Meggers Hall from 8 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
All textbooks are due by the last day of finals each semester. Please note that
fines are charged for damage beyond normal wear and tear and overdue fines are charged for each day a textbook is late.
A total replacement cost of $85.00 per book is charged for each
book not returned by the tenth day after the last final for each
semester final. This fine once in place will not be
forgiven. (At that point we must re-purchase the text to be
ready for the next semester.) No credit will be given for books returned after
that date. Blocks will be placed on student accounts with
outstanding library fines. Transcripts
will not be issued until all library books are returned, and all
library fines and fees
are paid. See
textbook checkout procedures.
