Le Vent du Nord from Quebec visits Rice Lake area – part of Arts Midwest World Fest
Le Vent du Nord - part of Arts Midwest World Fest - will be performing on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rice Lake High School Auditorium.
Considered a driving force in progressive folk, Le Vent du Nord captures the energy and mirth of a Saturday night kitchen party, infusing old Québec with a breath of fresh, cosmopolitan air. The quartet has performed well over 1,000 concerts, racking up several prestigious awards, including two Junos (Canada’s Grammys), a Canadian Folk Music Award, and ‘Artist of the Year’ at the North American Folk Alliance Annual Gala.
Le Vent du Nord is the first of four ensembles to visit the Barron County area over the course of this two-year partnership with Arts Midwest. The other ensembles featured in this program are Baladino from Israel (March 1, 2014), Paulo Padilha from Brazil (November 1, 2014), and Shangri-La from China (Spring 2015).
Arts Midwest World Fest presents international music ensembles in the nine-state region it serves with the goal of connecting small and mid-sized Midwestern communities to world cultures.
Le Vent du Nord is sponsored locally by the 3M Foundation, 3M Cumberland Plant, Diary State Bank and UW-Barron County. Tickets are only $10, or purchase a World Fest Pass, all four groups for only $35. Tickets can be purchased by calling 715-736-PLAY, online at barron.uwc.edu or at these ticket outlets: Rice Lake High School, Barron High School, Barron Area Community Center, Peter & Annie’s World Market Cumberland, Shell Lake School Business Office, UW-Barron County.
