The next Thursdays @ the U lecture series presentation, scheduled for October 3, will feature Eva Apelqvist speaking on “LGBTQ Families.” This presentation will be held from 12:30 – 1:20 p.m. in the UW-BC Blue Hills Lecture Hall in Rice Lake.
All series presentations, which are open to the public free of charge, will be held every Thursday at the University of Wisconsin-Barron County in Rice Lake.
Eva Apelqvist is a freelance journalist and author who wrote the book “LGBTQ Families: The Ultimate Teen Guide.” According to the recent U.S. Census, there are 650,000 same-sex couple households in the country and an estimated one-quarter of those households are raising children.
Apelqvist’s book focuses on the difficulties young people face as members of households in which one or more members are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer/questioning. This book offers encouragement, insights and resources to help them cope with and embrace the uniqueness of their family life.
The next Thursdays @ the U on October 10 will feature Dr. Daisy Pignetti speaking on “Blogging for Recovery after Katrina.”
The Thursdays @ the U Lecture Series is sponsored by the UW-Barron County Foundation. For more information, contact the campus at 715-234-8176.
